Amsterdam Conference on the Value of Knowledge

There's a conference on the Value of Knowledge being held at the Free University, Amsterdam, this August, just before our conference here on Social Epistemology. The invited speakers are Ernest Sosa, Jon Kvanvig, Alvin Goldman and myself. For more details, including a call for papers, click here.

This event is part of a European network of research on epistemology that is being run by Rene van Woudenberg (Amsterdam), Igor Douven (Leuven) and myself. You can get more details about this network and about the events associated with this network here. (I've just come back from an excellent conference in Leuven on Epistemology hosted by Igor Douven, so events are already underway).

RCUK Fellowship at Stirling

There's a great new post now available in the Department of Philosophy at Stirling. Essentially, it's a five-year post-doc with a permanent lectureship at the end. Applicants for the post should have a strong research record, commensurate with their career stage, in an area that complements the Department's existing strengths in:-

social, legal, political and moral philosophy;
epistemology and philosophy of mind;
philosophy of logic and language.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday 14th March, and the start date for this post is September 1st 2007.

Informal inquires about this post can be made to the Head of the Philosophy Department, Professor Antony Duff (r.a.duff@stir.ac.uk). A full advert for this position should soon be available on the personnel section of the University Stirling website, and also on www.jobs.ac.uk.

Oklahoma Conference on Formal Epistemology

Wayne Riggs is hosting a great looking conference on "Why Formal Epistemology?" over in Oklahoma, April 28th-29th. Participants at the workshop will include Luc Bovens, David Chalmers, Branden Fitelson, Alan Hajek, Jonathan Kvanvig, Adam Morton, Scott Sturgeon, and Paul Weirich. That's a great line-up and I'm really sorry I can't be there myself (I was originally part of the line-up but had to drop out because of other commitments. Ce la vie!).

For more information, see the workshop website here.
