New Paper on Disjunctivism and the Value of Knowledge by Millar

Alan Millar (Stirling) has passed over a draft of a very interesting paper on disjunctivism and the value of knowledge, entitled 'Perceptual-Recognitional Abilities and Perceptual Knowledge'. He offers an intriguing proposal for perceptual knowledge, and outlines how this proposal impacts on our understanding of the value of knowledge. I've added it to the 'drafts' section of the side-bar, but you can also download it by clicking here.

New Book on Formal and Mainstream Epistemology

I thought I'd draw your attention to an excellent new book on mainstream and formal approaches to epistemology written by Vincent Hendricks (Roskilde, Demark), largely because it's a book that one might not normally think would be relevant to discussions about epistemic value. Crucially, however, this book raises some important meta-epistemological issues--such as concerning the role of inquiry in epistemology--which are central to the topic. For more information about the book, click here and here.

Incidentally, if you'd like to read a primer on epistemic logic before you tackle this, then you could do no better than read the new Stanford Enclyclopedia of Philosophy article on this subject by Hendricks and John Symons (Texas, El Paso). Click here.

I just thought I'd draw your attention to an interesting discussion between Michael Brady (ANU/Glasgow) and Nenad Miscevic (Central European University) regarding Brady's new paper on the value problem (posted on the side-bar, and also available here). To see the original post, and the ensuing discussion, click here.

Update: Brogaard on Knowledge and Understanding

Berit Brogaard (Missouri) has sent over an updated version of her paper on Knowledge and Understanding. I've posted the new version on the 'drafts' side-bar below. You can also download it here.
